From the soft vinyl figure series “Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection,” created and produced by Yuji Sakai, Godzilla (2001) makes a return—based on the 2001 film Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack.
In this film, Godzilla’s white eyes and menacing appearance shocked fans, setting this version apart from previous incarnations. Yuji Sakai has faithfully recreated this Godzilla in a pose that evokes the original 1954 Godzilla. The pose is based on a still photograph that Sakai particularly liked and had long wanted to sculpt.
The figure’s brownish coloring is based on the actual suit used in the film, and this piece is a passionately crafted work brought into soft vinyl form. The original sculpt was converted from cast to wax to create a master mold. All production pieces are formed using this single master mold to minimize wear from soft vinyl molding and to preserve intricate details as much as possible.
